Feeling down? Read this..

I wanted to share something I have found that truly helps me when I feel a bit down or lost in my art and life!

I found some old photos of when I first learned to paint with watercolors! All the wonderful blooms of water and colors, different tricks like adding salt to the wet paint which reveals a pretty tie-dye effect! So fun.

But wow I realized I have come a long way in my art, learning new techniques with different mediums like acrylic paint and my favorite medium of all- oil paints! Along with learning photography and capturing images of birds and nature with a lot of (I mean a lot of) practice to get the images I wanted.

The photos of my art I am sharing with you have evolved! There is nothing at all wrong with the beginning stages of my early painting practices! They are part of the journey!

There is a noticeable uniqueness to my newer paintings! The rich colors and glow effect are two details I tend to use in my paintings these days! I am also not afraid to add glitter, drips, and whatever else comes to mind at the time! It's very freeing and I would have never done that years ago- I would have been too worried I would ruin my painting!

So the moral of the story here is, to keep something like a journal to write in, or if you paint or take pictures, whatever your personal or creative journey asks for. Hang on to those paintings or photos or stories you add to your journal, in a month or a few months maybe even years. You can look back on your progress and see how far you've come and remember the journey it took to get there!

My old paintings remind me of how I put myself in a box back then, and now there is no box, you can say I broke it down and tossed it in the recycling bin :)
