Peonies remind me of my childhood, we had a couple of bushes in my yard of my childhood home and my mom (who also called these flowers “Peenies”) would trim the fluffy blooms to give to our teacher’s at school- and to be sure they’d stay fresh she would create a make shift vases out of tin foil and put a little bit of water inside. (Probably hoping we wouldn’t spill them on the way into school!)

I also remember sticking my nose into the peonies to give them a big sniff and would find a big black ant inside :)
